NATP joined national nonprofits, business leaders, and educators at the 2022 Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) annual policy convening. The purpose of the July convening at the US Department of Education in Washington, DC was to address local, state, and national needs towards solutions and resources alignment in the areas of safety, community, and education.
Dr. Elda Garcia, NATP Executive Director, and Chris Cordell, NATP Board President and Austin ISD’s Director of Statewide Testing, joined the discussion specific to assessment and accountability. In collaboration with national experts and educators, next steps include:
- Establishment of an Assessment Taskforce to provide solutions to an assessment system that is not tinkering around the edges, and instead utilizes the components that work.
- Produce a guidebook in partnership with the USED to clarify terms along with purpose, role and responsibility for Assessments at the federal, state, and local levels of government.
NATP is proud to serve in meaningful collaborations, such as these, that invite sensible assessment solutions, policies, and practices.
